On March 15, 16 and 17 the University of Iowa Mock Trial team sent two teams to compete in St. Louis, MO in the American Mock Trial Association’s Opening Round Championship. After a grueling 3 day tournament, UIMT earned a bid to the National Championships in Washington, D.C.
Team 1479 captained by Junior Edward Rodriguez and Senior went 5-2-1, picking up wins over Washburn University, Drake University and Loras College. Senior Megan Sherburne also picked up an award as an outstanding witness for her performance over the weekend. It was a hard fought tournament that literally went down to the round, but at the end of the weekend UIMT punched their ticket to the National Championship on April 12-14, 2013. This is an honor that only 48 teams in the country achieved this year out of over 550 teams that began this journey.
